Bibis sings, we listen.
A couple weeks ago, Nick was fortunate enough to be able to take in a night of our lovely Bibis performing a set of her original songs at Wilmington Unplugged. Used to seeing her performing her unique takes on covers every Tuesday at the Whiskey, seeing Bibis in the element of singing her own music was a reminder (though no reminder is needed) of why SoGoPro has latched on to this siren. She did open the set, however, with a rare cover of one of her inspirations, "iamundernodisguise" by School of Seven Bells. Helped out by her sister, Katie Ellison, it was a phenomenal start to an even more phenomenal night...

That was so raw and pure and I loved it!

Family singing and playing together in dark rooms of tiny venues is something special. It creates something palpable but indescribable - it is why I have such affection for what remains of the Irish traditional music scene.
This incarnation of what "music" can be is just so different to all that over-produced hip hop or r'n'b, where some girl lies on a sports car while the same line is repeated thirty times. I know which i prefer.
