Backup and Reboot

kt's picture

Well the last few weeks haven't been particularly banner ones here at SoGoPro.  As Hilarie told you in her vlog, we're now looking for a new artist for our graphic novel... we seemed so close to getting that put to bed... but the baton was dropped and here we are.  So - we got Dave Dorman on the phone and asked him to round up some new talent... the good news is that he just got back from a trade show and had met a promising good new artist whose work he wanted us to see.  He's going to forward us her sketches and send along a few other artists that he thinks would be good for our book.  Fingers crossed!  A setback is a setback, however I'm confident that Dave will find us another talented artist that will work within our scope and produce a wonderful graphic novel.

I finally got back from Utah last week tired and worn out... for those who don't know we shot most of OTH's episode 722 in Park City, Utah.  Such a beautiful place... if you like snow (they've got mountains of the stuff) then you've gotta go visit that place someday.  Quaint little town... great places to eat and drink.  Warning:  Bring Your Wallet... very expensive place to hang out.  We all tried snowmobiling, everybody loved it and Yours Truly went on the Olympic Bob Sled track with my assistant Karen... All I can say is that was INSANE!  5g's in the corners will make the strongest man cringe... and weaker ones holler... just insane.  We also scored a great place to stay in Park City... "The Canyons"... the folks there bent over backwards to make sure our stay there went smoothly.  I've never met so many nice people in one place... even when one of our "unnamed actors" wasn't happy about room service and let the Canyon's management know about it they were still nice.  The rooms were spacious and each crew member and cast had their own condo... first time EVER we've gone anywhere and not one person whined about their accommodations.  We had to travel and accomnodate around 70 or so crew/actors from Wilmington, NC.  Folks, it went without a hitch... (Well not quite perfect, Alan Hook our designer who travelled before the rest of the the crew got left in Atlanta on his way home because of horrible weather on the east coast but he drove the final leg and got home safely) however, the weather on location was just perfect... the Utah film crew we hired was spectacular, all of them were hard workers with great attitudes and we shot the week out without one tiny bit of trouble... before you knew it we were loading the cast and crew into vans and sending them to the airport... a job well done!

So this week we're back in the saddle... still trying to raise capitol for "Pedestrian" and finding the right graphic artist to hire...

Onward,

kt

Hey KT, Im sooo glad that everything went without a hitch. Well except for those little things, which you said we really no problem at all. It sounds like you had tons of fun there!!! But we are all glad that you are back home safe and sound. :)

It breaks my heart to hear that the artist for the graphic novel ended up falling through. I have great confidence that you will find an even better artist. One that will make this graphic novel better than you could have ever imagined! I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear KT,

I'm glad you enjoyed your trip, soudns like you've had some great time despite the weather! In Poland we have lovely spring and it's sunny and warm! Finally! Glad to learn there is a possibility to go on with the graphic novel, I hope this person's artwork is nice to make it for SoGoPro. If only I wasn't so busy/lazy to finish my portfolio I would send you some of my sketches. Who knows, maybe someday.

Have a lovely day!

xoxo, Kasia

It's great to hear you have Dave on the job scouring some talent for the Graphic Novel.  It will be all good in the end.

Park City sounds like it went amazingly well.

That's good new about the graphic novel. I've always believed that things happen for a reason. So maybe this new artist will bring something to the table that the "other artist" couldn't. Maybe this new artist will inspire you to do something you didn't think about doing before.  And it sounds like you definitely had a good time in Park City. Im personally a beach kind of girl, so I doubt that I'll ever go there, but I do love those moutain towns with very friendly people.

Great blog, KT! :)

KT, darn it, I have a very good friend who runs an awesome restaurant in Huber, The Spicy Lady and you would have been welcomed like kings and Queens. Glad to hear all went well, sounds very chilly though.

On the SGP front, good to hear you are finding a talent, a young talent to be showcased, thats what you do best!

Great blog, KT! I'm really sorry about the graphic novel but I really do think you are going to find one who puts SGP first! That's the most important thing--someone who can execute the vision that you, Hilarie and Nick have and do it perfectly :) Park City sounds awesome...i've never been to Utah but it sounds cool!

Thanks for the update! I'm crossing my fingers as well! -Lyss
