Come up on our porch. There's a nice breeze. Tea's brewin'.
Yay RSA!! I'm glad you made it all the way down to Cape Town because it is, hands down, the best city in the country :P The monkey story, LOL, yes it does happen.
I wrote a bunch of stuff down while I was watching the interview so the comments might be a little all over the place:
- "Damn Gina", hahaha, I haven't heard that expression in ages! Fun throwback to the 90s.
- Fun fact: Ellen Roush (sp?!) was a character name on Veronica Mars!
- By the looks of things, one needs to be incredibly detail-oriented and organized to do this line of work. I had no idea that every little detail/movement/product etc etc had to be accounted for. Also - time cards? In 2010? Seriously? Seems very 60s-70s. I really admire your fortitude in the face of all that paperwork! (It is a little strange to see though, in light of the electronic age ;)]
A couple of questions:
1) Wearing my "ambassador hat", what was the best part of Cape Town/South Africa?
2) Kelly asked about the worst part of your job, but I don't think he asked you what the best part was. Care to share?
3) Does the meticulous documenting occur on feature films as well or is it just television?
I think that's about it. Thanks for agreeing to do the interview ,Karen - very fun, very informative. We are very appreciative! As always, thank you kt, for taking the time out to get all our questions answered. I hope someday someone turns the camera on you and we get information from your perspective (",)
i work as a production secretary as well and one of the nicest compliments i've been given recently is that it's so nice to work with someone so calm and relaxed in that position...and you exude that to the max! love hearing someone else talk about their duties and to be reminded that other people have to deal with the enjoyment known as script distribution. although i had to have missed a few edits because there is no way the phone only rang once in that 20 minute segment. ;)
That was a very interesting and informative interview. Thanks for sharing!! And Karen really seems like a fun person to have around. Can I take her on my next travels :)
Wow! Once again an amazing interview! Thank you so much!
I love it! it answered a bunch of questions once again. i even got answers for questions I didn't even think of yet! Kt thanks for being such a great interviewer and Karen thank you so much for answering so well, giving us all the details and showing us the visuals to what you're talking about! It's great to see the things once if you're talking about them!
It's nice to slowly find out how many people are involved and how important it is for everybody that everyone does a good job. It seems like everything would fall apart if one person in the chain doesn't do their job properly!
Some questions popped up, so I will send you an email as soon as possible ;) Thank you so much for the offer!!
I really enjoyed Karen's interview! She seems so fun to hang out with haha! She pretty much answered my questions about losing scripts and dealing with possible disasters with FedEx lol!
Thanks so much KT for putting together the II's every week! I'm enjoying learning about the production side of things!-Lissy
What a great interview, really enjoyed watching this! Karen is hilarious :) and clearly very valuable to the OTH team. Her explanations were really helpful. Cheers
All I can do, is the best I can do, in the time that I have.
Oh my gosh! Karen is so funny!! I want to meet her in person, so bad now!! I agree with MM, best interview yet. This interview was full of humor and information, the best kind! I laughed throughout the whole thing!! Thank you so much Kelly for introducing us to Karen! I can tell that she's definitely fun to work with! :)
