Catching Up and Looking Forward
As you all probably know by now - my “day job” on One Tree Hill is completely wrapped. It’s time to both catch up and look forward. Nick is, as ever, honing his writing craft. Hil’s publicity machine keeps you up to date on what’s going on in her world. Nevertheless, the Hellick still has a few irons in the fire on the indie front.
To start with, I’d like to introduce you to our good friend, director Erica Dunton.
Erica Dunton on her film "to.get.her" premiering at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival
which you can learn more about on to.get.her on Facebook
Director Erica Dunton at the 2008 Tribeca Film Festival with “The 27 Club"
More about that film at www.the27clubmovie.com And her 2005 short film “Lost and Found”
Erica has a couple of projects in development that I like and we’ve been talking about how best to proceed with them, as always it’s pushing a d**n big rock up a hill. I’m starting to get back in the saddle, so to speak, reading through the stack of scripts that have been languishing on my desk and computer for a long time, both pilots and features.
I did pitch a possible series last week and hopefully TV producer, Barry W, likes the script and takes it the network where he is setup. I am happy to also report that a friend of ours, Scott H., is producing his very first film and we were able to lure that production away from South Carolina, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Ohio at the very last minute. As always, my first goal is to bring productions to North Carolina and it’s a double win when they also pick Wilmington as their location. So - phone calls, meetings, correspondence - all the glamourous stuff that keeps things moving forward.
In some ways, SoGoPro is very different from when we started - but in many ways it’s very much the same.
Thank you all for being a positive part of the process.
