Land in Rome
Buy a bottle of Chianti and head straight to the Piazza.
Meet two girls from Valencia, Venezuela, one from South Carolina, a guy from
Bulgaria, a guy from Spain, and a Texan.
Get drunk.
Get propositioned by a prostitute.
Run away.
Meet up with all these girls the next day to tour the Vatican. I call them the Sirens.
They have me under their spell. Their trance. Their song is a dangerous one. I take illegal photos of the Sistene Chapel.
Have lunch from 4 to 7pm. Delicious. The Sirens ask me to go to Florence. To see more art and drink more wine. I say yes. No sleep.
Train to Florence. Uffizzi Gallery. Il Duomo. More amazing food. Sunset on the Ponte Vecchio. What a view. Train to Lucca. The walled city with 99 churches. Too much faith. I have to go.
The Cinque Terre. Swimming. Jumping from cliffs. Jellyfish. New friends. Aussies, Brits, Americans, all kinds. Leave for Rome. My buddy makes us return because he fell in love with one of the Sirens. The venezolana. Spanish Steps and lots of wine. Gorgeous.
A guy named Simone walks by with a cake left over from a party. We eat it. Scrumptious. No sleep. Train to Naples. Then Sorrento. Rent scooters and cruise to Positano. Then Amalfi. Then Ravello. Hairpin turns with huge busses and narrow roads. Sheer cliffs all the way to the sea.
Best time of my life.
Found a great beach. No suit. Stripped down to my trousers (british) and dove from the cliffs. Scootered for awhile in my underwear so they would dry.
Met a director I worked with for dinner in Positano. Delightful. Night scooter mission back to Sorrento.
Met some wild women. Stayed up with them til 6am when they had to sprint to their bus.
Train back to Rome to find my friend who has succumbed to the song of the Sirens. Big futbol game. Barcelona vs. Manchester United. Rome is dry. They won't sell boos while the holligans are in town. I find a loophole. Sweet talk a nice Italian lady in the Pizzeria. Party with a bunch of Roman hipsters. No sleep. Fall in love with a Roman girl named Celeste. Stay up all night. Catch a cab to Da Vinci at 6am. Fly to Zurich. Zurich to Los Angeles.
Fall in love with Swiss flight attendant. She winks at me at least 7 times. I write her a note. She tells me she has a boyfriend.
Ahhhhhhh Italy!!!!!!

But hey, you can come to Paris too, Paris can be fun too
lol!
Good, first comment on the new site. XD
I'm really happy for you, and for your amazing holiday in Italy. I'm italian and I'm jealous of your trip! I really want to travel around my country instead to go to school ù.ù Fortunately, 7 days and it ends. ù.ù
Anyway, I knew about your trip, so I was looking around, hoping you would have chosen Milan as a location to visit. Right, there aren't so much to see, but it's a good city too. I mean, it's an important italian city. Ok, stop XD For the record, these photos are amazing: Rome and Amalfi Coast. Good choices! (:
Italy had the same effect on me when I visited Rome and Florence. I want to go back so badly. I'm half-Italian; my father was born there and it feels like a second home.
Austin, so glad you're having the time of your life :)
Woua ! Austin !! What a fantastic journey!!!
How many times met you the love ?!
ha Italian attraction...

I was having dinner with some friends on the San Antonio Riverwalk the other night, we were at some little Italian restaurant named Michelino's, and about halfway into dining on my garlic bread, I was reminded of your previous blog stating that you'd soon be in Italy, which had me wondering for days how your trip was going, so it was a pleasant surprise to wake up to a blog describing your trip.
Staying up all night and falling love eh? Sounds amazing! Glad you had such a great time.
Color me jealous :)

Jellyous - I miss the wild fun travelling times. Austin, you have inspired me to do it again : ) New places, faces and friends - woop. J x
Seems like Italy made quite the impression on you or was is them company? Hmm. Seems like a doozie. Have no fear about illegal pictures. It's not as bad as being kicked out in front of five hundred people. (That was me.) Hope it was a time to remember because these are the moments that you shall look back on with great fondness. Tutte le cose buone, ma deve finire bentornato. (Pardon my rusty Italian, one semester in junior year of high school wasn't long enough.)
Hey Austin, nice to know you had a great time.. and well.. fell in love many times.. lol..
Hey Austin ! Welcome back…we missed your blogs !
Glad you had such a great time in Italy (even if you didn’t sleep a lot) where my family is from!
Greetings from Belgium
Hairpin turns with huge busses and narrow roads.
Aww Austin...either you were still drunk when you wrote this or the drive was so terrifying that, thinking it was your last, you were madly frenching everyone!
Damn those straight, boring LA freeways...
I have traveled all over western Europe but i've never been south of Pisa, Italy. I want to go to Rome so bad! Sounds like you had a hell of a time.

I took illegal photos too, first in the Sistene Chapel in Rome, and then in Florence, with the David from Michel Angelo... All Italy should be worderfull...
I'm glad that your trips was good, for the way you talk about it, seems really funny and wild. Next time, come to Spain please, we are waiting for you with open arms.
Austin it sounds like Italy was amazing.
Haha, I love your writing style. Good to see you had a great time! I hope to go to Rome too next summer. It's hard to leave Italy, isn't it? ;)

Glad you had fun Austin.
But we need bigger pictures. We can hardly see your beautiful face!
I too have taken illegal photos at the Sistine Chapel, and have a picture of myself very similar to yours on the Amalfi Coast. Have never been propositioned by a prostitute - but my brother-in-law was. My FATHER was. Wow, that was a scarring experience for all concerned...
So glad you had a good time, seems like you will have some wonderful memories of Italy...
