Italian Birds
The birds in these photos will remain nameless in order to protect the innocent. There are all kinds of varieties of birds in Italy. The first two are rare Venezuelan birds. The fair-haired one got lost from her home country during migration and decided to stay in Roma. I guess the climate was similar to her native Venezuela. She thrives here. I observed her for some hours in the Vatican.
It seems that Italian men are deeply interested in this color of feathers. The dark-haired variety was only just visiting her lighter-haired friend. She is fond of her native surroundings and will migrate back there in the fall. She sang the most beautiful song I have ever heard in the animal kingdom.
And then the true Roman bird. She often dons interesting hats. In my humble opinion, this is not necessary because she already posesses such breathtaking plumage. The photo does not do her justice. Her feathers are a rich shade of strawberry-tangerine.
My studies in Italy taught me that all the avian population offer such strikingly beautiful plumage. The males there are all constantly weak in the wings. Crashing into fire hydrants and telephone poles, because they were craning their necks in order to catch a glimpse of a winged beauty.
I always found it interesting that, in the wild, male birds were the more colorful and beautiful sex. Thank God this isn't so in humans.

So excited your back from Italy!!! Was wondering when we would hear from you again... I love your take on the opposite sex on Italy very inventive.. Anyways Glad you had an amazing time.. I want to go there someday... So I can explore and see the wonders it has to offer.. .
Priceless! Excellent little story, a few nice little avian facts....
The avian visual system is usually highly developed [hence excellent choice in posing with Mr Nichols]
Birds are possessing ultraviolet sensitive cone cells in the eye as well as green, red and blue ones. This allows them to perceive ultraviolet light, which is involved in courtship. [Often in the night clubs of their beautiful homeland]

Your lovely words make me wish that I was in Italy right now, instead of avoiding work. My colleagues and I are working late this evening (big event coming up) and I just had to share your take on your Italian vacation.

Very Nice Birds Austin ;) Hehe :p
I think you had a great time in italy haha :p
The third bird look like hilarie ^^
It's not just male birds that are colorful. Many primates are as well..Mandrills for example they have brightly colored faces and..bums and those are the males. It's rather fascinating how that happens.
Thanks for sharing. Have a good weekend!
I must say that I always enjoy reading blogs written by you. They're just so quirky and fun to read. :)

you shouldn't have to sacrifice who you are just because someone else has a problem with it :)
Grey Goose you are such a ladies man. Thanks for the pictures I asked for. A little over the top dude. Thats a shame. Makes those who think otherwise feel very sad.
Austin,
I'm glad that you had a wonderful time in Italy. The towns that you visited are so beautiful.
I think the next time you go to Europe, you should go to France. Go not only to Paris but also to other parts of the country that people don't think about visiting like Normandy with the landing beaches of WWII and Brittany, which is a province where people are very friendly. I could tell you more about it because this is where I'm from.
I like the way you were described the women by birds names which I wouldn't have thought about doing. All these women seems to be beautiful, especially the ones of Venezuela. You may not know that many Venezuelans women have been crowned as Miss Universe or Miss World because of their beauty.
Thanks for sharing about your trip not only the words but also the pictures.
Now it is time to go back to work :)
