Road Trip....
Today is beautiful! So, I'm grabbing a quick cup of coffee and hitting the road this morning. My friends JoJo and Christy were the hairstylists on OTH for the first 4 or so seasons, but they are now down in Charleston SC working on the show "Army Wives".
We movie folk are gypsies.... vagrants that hop from one place to another, scrounging for work and attention. I assure you, I mean no disrespect to gypsies as a culture. I have been fascinated with the lifestyle since I was young. Hence the palm-reading. And anyone who has met me knows there is a tendency to dance wildly while wearing billowing, colorful clothing. All I need is some pick-pocketing lessons. Anyone have any tips?
Anyway, as I was saying....I'm going to go play with my girlfriends. JoJo is going to color my hair before I start shooting a new movie next week. (Provinces of Night. I am very excited about this! Will blog more after my first day.) Then we will gossip and giggle into the wee hours. And will come back to Wilmington, my soul refreshed, ready for action. Nick, in the meantime, will be hanging out at my place, editing our short film on this here computer. A little quiet time in the Burton lair. I would like to remind him that the angel food cake is on the counter and the berries that go on top of it are in the fridge. Have at it, darling. Ha.
It is going to be a day of mixtapes, and lovely landscape, and pit stops in small little towns. I love driving. It's my sanctuary. So if you're out there on the road today, and you see some bonkers woman with all her windows down, singing at the top of her lungs, give her a honk and a wave. I promise I'll wave back. Driving on an open road is the most freeing feeling. Except when you have to drive in Europe, then it's madness...frustrating madness :o/

My friends and I always go out at least one day every week and cruise around town in my car with the windows open and singing at the top of our lungs lol.I love how you said that you also love driving lol...I feel that when i drive i am free to do whatever i want to, it just feels good to be out and about.lol anyways awesome post!!

Re Neera's response-you are absolutely right, Gypsies originated from India and traveled up through Turkey into Europe. In the school I currently teach in the UK, we have a small(Romany Gypsie demogaphic and I feel privileged to have 3 children from the traveler site in my class. Their culture is rich yet they continue to be the most discriminated ethnic minority in the UK.
Ure so silly willy. I love the way u are. A bit nerdy Perhaps but its awesome.. I hope to have one day the go to just live my life with much worries.. I need a lil laughter here and there to much problems and stress, but I stop to think someone may have it worse so Appreciate life.. ANd it just makes u stronger.

Last night, my husband and I watched "the secret life of bees" It was a great movie. I cried a couple times. It was nice to see acting as a desperate woman than a teenager who has became a younger adult on OTH. I'm a big fan of you for Peyton in OTH. Sorry that we won't see you. I know that I will miss you.
Did Nick disturb anything in the"Burton lair"? Did he even left you some cake?

aw man! Driving with my windows down, listening to some great tunes reeaaaally loud is one of my FAVOURITE things ever! LOVE it.
And getting hair done always seems to make me feel soo much better.

I can't wait to hear more about your new project and what that experience ends up being like for you! It sounds like a really fun role ... well, fun for an actress, not fun as in like ... light or funny, lol.
Oh, and I hate driving. I can't even lie. I think because I've traveled so much between where I go to school and my hometown. I'm always just, like, ugh. I call everyone in my cell contacts to entertain me, hah.
Road Trips are like my most favorite thing EVER!!!! My most frequent road trip destination is Nashville, love that town! soon to be home!
I too am guilty of driving with the windows down, my speakers blaring with excellent tunage and me singing and dancing while I drive down the road lol.

So, my favorite gypsy woman...what have you been listening to on that road trip of yours?!
Also, my gypsy story for you: when I was in high school we had some meandering gypsies come to my town for a few weeks. They lured people out of their homes by having one person ring the doorbell and act as a solicitor, while the others went around the back of the house and robbed you while you were being chatted up. Since I live in a pretty sleepy Massachusetts town people don't really lock their doors...hence the gypsies could really take full advantage. It made things interesting, that's for sure...a harmless bunch though.

I totally agree! There's nothing like cruising in the sunshine, with the windows (or roof) down, singing on the top of your lungs...it's such a great feeling! Until you pull up at a red light, and the people in the car next to you think your nutts! Ha! But who cares eh? As long as your happy, that's what I say. I don't know about you but in the privacy of my little car I like to think Im THE best singer. Ha. I can pretend anyway =).

There is no better way to spend a beautiful spring day (& weekend!). Totally jealous although I am getting ready to head to Arizona where it is 90' but always sad to leave as Boston begins to climb to 70'. Oh well! I will spend the first half with my mother and sister and alot of the fun you talked about.
SO rejuve and drinks lots of wine because we all know that is what makes a day even better :)

That sounds amazing, I wish I had more opportunities to take road trips...but alas my husband insists on flying. You are a lucky girl! Enjoy the green grass and blue skies as you drive by, enjoy the openness and freedom. You continue to inspire us all by being so real. On another note, the shirt is GORGEOUS! I was so excited to open it that I tripped on a tree root and face-planted into the grass, and managed to cut my foot open. SO worth it! Ha ha. Stay beautiful!

I thought of taking a road trip this weekend, myself, Hil! How fun.
Driving is really the greatest thing ever. I can't think of anything better than driving around listening to some kick-ass music... and maybe adding some really cool scenery for picture-taking.. have so much fun!

It is a gorgeous day here as well - a day great for driving with the windows down, shopping, or just being outside doing whatever.

But I hope you have lots of fun on your road trip! :] My brother and I are going on a road trip today too, we are going to Charles Town, WV. Can we say small town? :) But I love it.
And I love driving, I claimed driving through Virginia tonight. We'll more then likely be the crazy ones driving down I-95 listening to reggae and looking out for deer :]

I first read this post while sitting in ninth period study hall, and I can't tell you how jealous it made me.
A road trip to visit friends sounds like the perfect thing to do! And JoJo and Christy are lucky...first One Tree Hill and now Army Wives...my two favorite shows!
