vocal cords of love.
firstly.
have you purchased a SoGoPro shirt? prove it. find yourself a lincoln booth and have him snap a shot of you being a pedestrian. or otherwise. baking a cake. dance dance revolution-ing. at the llama farm. being presented with a key to the city. next to zac efron in the 17 again poster at your nearest megaplex. get creative, use that noggin. and if we love it, you'll see it on the blog.
email us @ southerngothicproductions@gmail.com
secondly.
i have been making ugly attempts at putting a dent into the editing of the true-love tale of boyfriend and girlfriend. as it turns, computers are still catching up to the technology of the camera we shot on, and so me and that computer, that computer and me, well, we are not friends anymore. i had to throw an elbow. after ten hours of rendering, boy do i hate that word, i started making some cuts only to find myself back at square one with ten more hours of rendering, ugh. new software on the way. kneeling to the apple gods.
soon progress will be made, and we will be casting the narrator for our short, the crystal voice to spin this love yarn.
as it is a story of the south, a southern voice seems appropo, doesn't it? so our narrator might be something dirty, hard, and angular like deep alabama. or maybe something a bit more fey and peachy like upper crust georgia. or maybe we'll recruit a french friend, as the french hold the most inherent love tones. or a nice brit. narration always sounds best with an english twist. perhaps hugh grant is available. he knows love. actually.
but before we make our final decision, i thought i'd consult you all. so tell me, kindly, what does love sound like to you?
one of my favorite voices belongs to shirley henderson in miss pettigrew lives for a day.
now tell me yours.
yours.

It's very nice to you to say that the french hold the most inherent love tones.
You could make a competition to your fans where they will be able to read you a text of love and later he will be able to record his voice to make the voice of love.
I sew that you have found the voie of love : Cullen Moss it's very good choice.
hmmm...a voice of love?? That to me can be anything that makes you protect, that you could do anything that your heart imagined. Almost like you are invincible, that you have everyone opportunity in the world right at your finger tips. That could be a person, a song, a laugh, a smile, a color, the list could go on and on. Love is infinite. Its the one thing in the entire world that can never be taken away or destroyed.
:)
Much Love,
Kait(KO)
I think The Fray's first record is the sound of love. Their songs express so much to me.
I think love has many sounds as love is many things but for either a really good song that you just makes you feel all warm or just good ol' laugh :D
As an englishwoman i think an english narrator would be really great someone like Pierce Brosnon or Helena Bonham Carter or Stephen Fry even as they have voices that could read out the yellow pages and you would never get bored.
If not a southern american accent would sound really good too :D
great post! for a southern voice i think of reese witherspoon!(: and the sound of love to me is hearing my hubby and my two boys just laughing and talking together! <3
The sound of love to me is my 5 year old daughter saying "I love you Mommy". Nothing can make my heart skip a beat, melt, and feel so whole than that. Because at 5 she doesn't know anything bad it's all pure and true.
Nick! Awesome post definitely. Hmm.. as for a good southern narrator..I could say Peter Coyote, the man who portrayed Jamie's father in 'A Walk to Remember'. He has a very good southern accent which I believe is true for him or maybe Eric Roberts? Both very good actors could fit the part well. For a international accent you could use Gerard Butler. He is scottish, but he has a good voice, deep a rich. What exactly were looking for.. like.. tone in voice or how deep an accent can be?
Btw, I did recieve my shirt in the mail yesterday and I was thrilled! Thank you and Thank Hilarie for taking the time out to send them and sign it. Thanks alot. I don't have pics right now of me in it, but I'm sure soon I will probably tomorrow or at a later date but I will definitely send them to you!
What does love sound to me... love to me sounds passionate and kind such as the voice telling a love story should be. It should make a sound so heartwarming that it lifts your spirits high and makes you feel your greatest; makes you continue in believing that love is out there and that even if you haven't found it, you still will.
as for a favorite voice, I don't think I could really pick. There are so many out there for me.. hard to choose!
Btw, thanks for the post, Nick. Totally awesome! Peace & Love to you and the whole SOGOPRO gang!
Hey All!
So I have not yet gotten to buy my SoGoPro shirt...but let me give you this sadly true explanation. First off, I am an old fashion kind of gal...and I don't have a credit card or such. Second, I am a college student in Central Wisconsin, and like most college students I am short of money. BUT THIS WILL NOT STOP ME! I have literally picked up a few extra work shifts at the front desk of my dorm where I work so I can purchase a shirt. Let me remind you, finals are coming up, but screw those, I want a special edition Hilarie signed shirt! Next time I am home I hand the cash off to a friend, and she will order me my shirt. So I may not have been the first person to put in my order, but I promise I will get there! True dedication, right here.
In conclusion, so you want me to put a voice to love? If you capture the moment when I first receive my SoGoPro shirt, that right there will be pure love.
Best of luck,
Em Kling
Ok if i were to put a voice to love i think it would be soft, warm and gentle and maybe sometimes have a youthful playness to it when speaking. Whether it be male or female i think it should have some southern drawl to it but not too much twang. It would be a voice that you could just close your eyes and listen too and you would just smile. I am sorry i do not have a physical example at the moment and i dont want to write a huge long description.
Thannk you guys for your awesome work.
Amanda
I have purchased my SOGOPRO shirt bu I'm still waiting for it!
As soon as I got it, I take photos.
Thank you for everything you do.
With love,
Lonae,
France.
I've sent you some shots of me rockin' the SoGoPro gear, more creative adventures to come this week!
Hmm... what love sounds like to me... Personally it is the voice of my late grandmother who I've missed everyday for the past 5 years, she spoke so kindly and loving! Entertainment wise lets see.... maybe James Garner when he narrated "The Notebook" his voice just seemed to be filled with love you really felt the LOVE from just the way he spoke of it
-Nickie
ill be snaping a creative shot of me in my shirt as soon as I get it! Shipping takes 1-2 weeks :( ARGH!!
K what does love sound like to me?? Mmmmm? well right now its not so much a sound as it is feelings that transform in to sounds and sights of love! See im in love and as one knows it takes you over. So right now everything souds like love to me!
So puzzledddd..i don't know if it worked when i ordered my t-shirt, it never showed up on my visa. so i went to buy another one.. hopefully i'll will get both in the mail! please someone tell me if it worked or not.. i am a huge supporter of hilarie burton! cross my fingers that it worked.
well if it did no doubt about it i am going to think of a sweet way to take a picture!! pretty excited!
I know quite a few have said it - but Kate Winslet would have the perfect type of voice!
The kind of deep voice, with the well spoken English accent would be it for me! Something about the English just says 'Love' to me in movies.
Can't wait until my T-shirt arrives... will get onto the photo mission then! I've seen the signs for a place I have in mind, now just have to find how to get there ;)
A blog post full of things to think about, love it, Nick.
Goodluck with the short film.
For me the best way to love is just the beat of his heart, when you declare your love .perhaps, I do not think french is a better focus than others for such feelings. If this is a song for me it is, "L'hymne à l'amour" Edith Piaf.for my favorite on my feelings of love, "the pursuit of happiness" will swith with very nice lesson of love between a father and son.
For me and yes I buy my t-shirt, but it has not happened yet.
and again thank you nick for this post.
loic
If i had to choose anyone it would be James Earl Jones he has the perfect voice its deep yet calming.
If ur looking for someone english i'd say Kate Winslet hands down and in her latest interview she said she was talking a year off from movies so u know shes available..lol
Jane
just bought a shirt
absolutely going to model it in the midst of something ravishingly entertaining and send you busters the pictures (;
as far as the voice goes.. i changed my mind about the beauty and the beast notion i was working off earlier...
i think that a good voice would be one that sounds eally innocent and natural even if its just a totally random person with no training or anything.. someone young and innoent because i think thats when love is the most fun; when its innocent
layne
*raises hand- I did see 17 Again today, i shan't lie. I did not however read this beforehand so I did not get my picture with the Mr. Efron, unfortunately.
I'm really more of a taking-the-picture type of person but i'll throw the ole SGP shirt on for a few shots of love I suppose. not sure where though, in the middle of the country-perhaps by a cow or an old chicken coop? hmm i'll have to think on this one.
As for narrator, I'm always a fan of the old wise man that knows more than the characters but roots for them anyways. Morgan Freeman or James Earl Jones or Sean Connery, James Garner type of voice. Any way though, I'm sure it will be great.
remember- "love really is all around" (*cough hugh grant cough*)
-Becca
Hummmm...someone with 'the voice of love'???
As I am English, I may be biased in rooting for someone with the good old British accent, and who to do it better than the one and only Hugh Grant...he does have the rather charming British accent after all. Also I adore the way Kate Winslet speaks.
My 'English' accent is terrible, as Im from Yorkshire, so we kinda miss words out here and there (its a real lazy way to speak) and most of the time we dont make sense to anyone who isn't from Yorkshire....so this really isn't the sound of love, more like the vocal cords of 'confusion'.
Anyway, really looking forward to recieving my T-shirt. Just need to think of a cool place to find the coolest pedestrian and say "Hey, you don't know me, but will you please take a picture of me in my FABULOUS new shirt" =).
Much Love,
Lauren, UK.x
The best southern voice would have to be my aunt. And she is from North Carolina. [:
She is amazing! And if you want her number I will give it to you.
Hehe
Other then that. I would buy SoGoShirt but tough times means no mulla for those who are unemployed. lol.
I STILL SUPPORT YOU ALL!
And I love what you are doing I tell everyone at my school about it.
xoxo
Angel
hee...funny. ummmm i think love sounds like doris day...determined, firey and feminine...and if shes not avaliable (:P) then get bethany joy galeotti..she has such a nice soft and smooth voice!
xoxo Shailee
I may be blind but is there a way to contact Southern Gothic Productions with an email address somewhere?
so i am thinking either Hilarie or Chad (even though he doesnt have a southern accent) he does some great voice overs. since yall are in wilmington you have the possibilty of pick some random person off the street. or Hilarie could pick someone up in Charleston while shes there!!
The voice I am currently in love with provides the English twist aspect you are searching for. Stephan Fry could lull me to sleep with his velvety English accent. Makes me think of a scone with hot butter on it ahhhh..... that sounds really good dosen't it! Well anyway hope you find what your looking for.
well this weekend is full of birthdays for me so i could take a pic of me making a cake in my SoGoPro shirt but im going to San Fran on Friday so i maybe able to get some good pics there instead i actually have a good place in mind.
some voices i like are Hugh Grant,Sandra Bullock, Julia Roberts and of course Hilarie or you.
Hope you don't work to hard on the short i knw how frustrating it can be when things dont work right on the computer.
Val
If you decide to go for a southern voice my choice would be Joy Galeotti or Hilarie Burton :) If you're still thinking of an English twist, I love Kate Winslet!
Can't wait to see everyone's pedestrian photos in their SoGoPro shirts.
to me
love sounds like the tenderness of someone whisper how much you mean to them,
the laughter of friends,
love sounds like many things
but its what makes your ears ring and heart stops that counts.
xoxo,
dani
I don't know a lot of Southern Actors. I'd leave it to the ones who are actually farmilar with southern acting.
I'd like to say Kathy Bates because her preformance in Fried Green Tomatoes is phenomenal. The other leds in that film were great too. Mary Stuart Masterson & Mary Louise Parker :)
I'm uploading my pictures as I speak :)
Thanks,
Maygen
Just NOT one of those scientific people narrating, got enough of that in health class last week.. YUCK.
However, i do love llamas, and your posts. great reads. Hope all this editing stuff goes well!
Well i haven't gotten my t-shirt yet, but as soon as i do. i'll think of a good picture to take and send it right on in!!! can't wait to wear them t-shirts!!!!
What is Love for me?
Love can refer different feelings for anyone.
Love can be emotions, so can it be affection or attachement, pleasure (romantic love). You can have religious love or love something you like to do like being creative (music, art,…) Interpersonal attraction towards a friend or boy-girlfriend or anyone of the family.
There is people they sometimes say “I love you” but without to feel the real love coming for the bottom of your heart! Love is something strong Love is a simple idea but not simple to feel if it’s not the right person!
But I do LOVE someone from the bottom of my heart and that I don’t wanna loose for anything because once we do your heart will be broken forever and there will be always something you'll miss (which in my case is my dad) but this most important person in my life I have left is my lovely MOM. And I thank her for all the love she gave me and still do. And I thank her because she cares for me and did everything she could to educate me in a good way.
This comes from the BOTTOM OF MY HEART!!
I talked with my heart and not with my head.
Xoxo Naoual
Okay, and I do love Hilarie Burton as a great actress and human being. I unfortunately never met her. But hopefully I will one day while I come visite Wilmington
I'm definitely going to think of a fun picture to take with my SGP shirt, Nick! Love your blog. Good luck with the editing!
What does love sound like? That's such an awesome question. I agree with what everyone else has said so far, and I'll add in, love sounds like a favorite song, or someone else's favorite song playing at just the right moment, whatever that moment may be.
In terms of southern accents for narrators? She's not an actress, but I love Jennifer Nettles' (from the band Sugarland) Georgia accent :)
love sounds like disney world.. when i was little i was convinced i was Belle and i was going to find some prince-turned beast (or the other way around? .. idkk) and fall in love... so i would go with the french
but since you cant hire walt disneys cast from a classic cartoon... i would stick with something southern.. a slow southern accent definatley seems like the way to go for what your doing
3 voices in this world make me shiver with sheer happiness...Brad Pitt, David Beckham, and the Spanish love of my life-Fernando Torres :)
Love them all and they are all love <3
I will definately take a picture of myself wearing my SGP shirt, when it arrives. :)
What does love sound like?
Many things. Children laughing....babies too. My Mamaw's voice at family gatherings, when she's happy. Christmas! My kitty cat, purring (she's not a big purrer.) oh and I'm sure love sounds like many other things too...
Love is too difficult to pin down to just one voice though....good luck with that. ;)
~Robin
To me, love sounds the best in silence...
...the sparkle of a lover's eye.
...a mother's first look at her newborn child.
...a best friend's warm embrace.
I suppose that doesn't help much in the narration department. Luckily, it seems that you've got a lot of other suggestions here :)
Thanks for yet another great post.
Ho nick !!
You know my favourite love and sexy voice is Barry White… tone of his voice thrilled me ! but unfortunately he left us.
So i propose Sean Connery, because he has that voice and that Scottish accent.
refined and strong ! In my opinion the best voice to speak of love
Or if you want a French voice! I am your person! I hold the most inherent love tones ;-)
bises
Alexia,
France
Love sounds to me like Ryan Gosling in The Notebook.
I'm planning many photo shoots with my SoGoPro shirt. When the weather finally clears up I will get to taking them.
Kyle Chandler when he does his southern accent on Friday Night Lights as Eric Taylor. It's a subtle accent, but it's there and beautiful
Once my shirt arrives there will be much photo taking, and much rejoicing-yay! I think theres llama's close, or maybe buffalo's.
Love has many sounds. My moms singing, my dads guitar playing, the belly laugh of a baby, a good song-its all real, its all from the heart, and they are sounds that warm my heart.
hmm and voices...I just love Julie Andrews and Kate Winslet, beautiful and full of class. So many have a great sound though. Those just stand out to me.
Thanks for the post Nick! I hope editing goes more smoothly for you!! :)
Love to me sounds like (this may be cheesy but whatevs) when I see my niece or talk to her on the phone and she starts squealing and gets super excited to hear or see me.
As for the voice, I'm echoing Andrea and Ella. Julia Roberts all the way. Or a French accent. Either works for me. Good luck with editing!
Love is anything that makes you feel safe and warm. Like nothing can touch you. My list could go on forever of what love is to me. Whether it be a laugh, or a smile, or something someone says or the way it's said. Actually, Miss Hilarie gives me that feeling. She's one of the few people that reminds me of everything good that's still around us. That may sound weird, but it's hard to explain.
My mom did let me get a shirt, and I am so very excited about it. Can't wait to get it.
And I will get on my "pedestrian picture".
love from guam

Love sound like it is beautifully imperfect.
Sometimes, you love just makes the imperfection of your partner, perfect.
Alan Rickman has the best voice ever. That is all.
This one is easy. My favorite voice is my son's...hands down. Little 4-yr-old southern boy with his own interpretation of a southern drawl.
Love, to me, has a southern accent...its what I know. And of course laughter....lots of laughter...the kind that makes you cry!!!!
Susan
what does love sound like to me? hmmm...
i think love can sound like the deep sigh of a girl in love with a boy (who doesn't know this girl loves him so much) when she sees him across the street.
or when your loved one whispers in your ear how much he/she loves you, and that makes a shiver run down your spine...
with the voice issue, i don't know if i could help you, since my voice is kinda deep, and i speak with a mix of american and english accents, since i'm argentinian and i grew listening to eng accent at the institute, and american on tv. :) but i echo andrea, i like julia too. there's just something in her voice, i dunno, makes me feel happy. sounds crazy, i know, but that's how i am!
good luck finding a beautiful voice
xo, Ella
Oh man... how I wish there was a llama farm nearby to stroll around in my SGP in.
I will however take some pics of me and my shirt in other fun areas!
But hmmm... what does love sound like to me?
A beating heartbeat, a present being unwrapped, a simple goodnight or good morning, and a lullaby...
thats all I can think of right now.
Thanks for the post.
-Raquel
Nice blog Nick!
When i get my shirt i will deff take a picture at a llama farm for you ;)
I would be happy to provide you with that English twist you are after :) Whether I am as desirable as Hugh Grant - well that's another issue.
What does love sound like to me?...
Personally love sounds like a number of things.
My mobile/door bell ringing - someone wants me.
A friend sending me a random song.
Love also sounds like my family talking/laughing.
Love can sound like anything that makes me feel warm and fuzzy and puts a smile on my face.
Nice blog Nick - I will try and get a good picture of me in my shirt(s)....although with my broken leg I dont think my picture will be as adventurous as at a Llama Farm !!
Sue
A true and honest southern voice, one that you can tell has seen it all, but whose convictions and ideas still remain the same and they see the good in life. Like Julia Roberts in Steel Magnolias or Olympia Dukakis if you wanted an older voice
