Please tell us about the unicorn. Sweet but I know there is a story behind it. I will check for the book next time I head to the library. Thanks for sharing.
This book sounds awesome!!!! This vlog should of been named "Circle time with Hilarie" haha!!! You should post part 2 to this vlong because i wanna know what's going to happen next.
After getting through all the annoying construction that was surrounding my Local Public library and going down many one Streets the wrong way cause I don't know my way around down FW that well I finally have in my Hands Twilight By William Gay. Now I'm in the Commons at school and "should" Continue working on my math hmwk since finals are next week and it is the most important class that I pass but instead I'm on SoGoPro, and thinking I should read twilight while I wait for my other group memebers to get here.. Haha Also when I went to the library they thought I waS wierd for looking for a book called Twilight that wasn't about Vampires.. Lame!! Hahah but anyways the gist of this rambling is one I am procrastinating and too I'm excited to start reading this book it's my first Southern Gothic Novel so we'll see how it goes...
Sorry, just wanted to leave a comment/reply to BrwnEyedGirl/Kels...
Thank you for replying to my earlier comment. I am really interested in criminal psychology too, and although the criminal mind is interesting in a somewhat 'disturbing' way, what also fascinates me is the genious mind that solves the crime. So thank you for recommending this, I'm definately going to purchase a copy this week. And thanks again to Hilarie, for the recommendation, and the wonderful reading of a passage that has intrigued my interest in the book =).
I loved the juxtaposition of the playful fairytalish unicorn and the darkness creepy-ness of what you read. Twilight seems kind of distrubing...I'm positive it is an interesting twisted story. Thank you for sharing it with us!
I will be home on May 1st this Friday due to holiday so I will have a book to do me company and this sounds like a good choice. But I don't think I can keep on reading until Sunday because I will be out on Saturday :-D
Love the unicorn:) The book sounds interesting. I will look for it on the swedish websites. Love your glasses btw. I will miss you on OTH, not the same without Peyton... weel mayby you will turn up in some movies in the future? Beacuse I think you're the best one on OTH.
Ooooh very intriguing, it looked as though the unicorn was quiet interested as well. Books-A-Million here I come (once the tornadic activity ceases), so gotta read this book!!!!
Well I think you found another calling in life as a book-reader. That was a lot of fun! And I really think Charlie the Unicorn enjoyed himself as well. (look up charlie the unicorn on youtube, you'll find a striking similarity to your stuffed friend!) And way to make reading glasses look cool again.

I wish you were my babysitter and read to me at bedtime! ah man would i be a lucky kid, my mother almost never read to me. well i'm off to search for twilight.. :D
So.. when then sun in shining in the UK (stated to show the rarity), wearing my new SOGOPRO shirt and watching this vlog, what an awesome way to start a sunday. Thanks for starting the book club, awesome to have a place to check out some good reads. Keep it up guys :D GJ p.s. great glassess

Hi Hilary (:
Oh, glasses :) Now I don't feel so lonely anymore (: Btw, they totally suit you!
Also, such great enthusiasm i your voice! Love it!
Now, I don't read books, but whatever my favorite actress recommends, I'll read (: I do wanna become an actor so I should probably start to read more. At this point I'm more about writing scripts (: Maybe we'll cross paths one day (:
Also, what is the name of your purple unicorn friend, don't think you've introduced us to him/her yet (:
Awesome!! Thanks so much for the recommendation. Btw, love the giant purple plush unicorn - nice touch. Not exactly something I would associate with a book like that. :)
I was so intriuged I want to go to Barnes and Nobel and buy it now and have to read after I finish Breaking Dawn.. Sorry I'm a Lover of all things "the other Twilight" but out of all the books that SoGoPro has read outloud this one has to be one that has d efinately caught my ear.. I'm going to Barnes and Nobel money and picking this up. =] Was the Unicorn filling in for Nick?? haha Love it!!
The unicorn is awesome, looks like its totally enjoying the read! I think I am definitely going to be checking out this book, may have to use it as my choice in my local book club. Morbidly intriguing, I love it! Thanks for the excerpt and recommendation!

"Picture postcards mailed from hell." Awesome. And creepy. But still really awesome, heh. I'll have to put this on my list of things to read when the semester ends and I can actually have a life.
Sorry, I just read Lauren's comment (I have a habit of commenting too soon as well) and wanted to add that this book is partially responsible for my current interest in criminal psychology. So if your into exploring the mind of criminals... you’ll definitely like this book.
oh wow. I just finished reading The Pillowman last night so I'm thinking I might have to take a trip to Powells and buy this book. Can summer just be here already though so I can sit out in the sun and read? thanks for sharing. The unicorn seemed to really be into the story as well so thats always a good sign. -Raquel
I have to admit, I was so intrigued by your glasses (looks very smart ;)) and the purple unicorn that I completely missed out on your reading :)) Guess it's a second go for me there ... back on that later ...
Eeeesh, that was creepy! But I wanted you to read on! This is defo one that I'm going to go in search of. I've read true stories/accounts that sounded similar to this when I was studying for my Psychology degree, which explained how criminal psychologists would solve these kind of crimes.
Also, just want to say I recieved my shirt today...I got that excited that I even did a little dance; and gave my Mom a wee speech that went like "Wow can you believe this package has come ALL the way from North Carolina" (I live in England)...Small things eh? I need to get out more.
Thank you so much for recommending this book, I think I may pick up Provinces Of Night too. AND an even BIGGER thank you for my wonderful shirt 'all the way from North Carolina'. Ha.
Oh, I also wanted to throw a book title at you guys. It's a true-story Southern Gothic tale about a family in South Carolina
A Piece of the Foxes Hide by Katharine Boling
it's really worth the read if you all get the chance. it's kind of a morbid, who-done-it i'd guess you'd say. Alright, that's it. Thanks again for your recommendations.
Phew, for a split second I thought it was going to be...vampires and Edward Cullen and thankfully it wasn't! This sounds like an awesome book. Since school has usurped my time, I haven't read any of the books mentioned here or anything for myself. But once summer starts, I'm gonna give this one a try.
Having failed to be won over by that other Twilight book (i just don't find pale, cold boys with a propensity for bloodsucking sexy, sorry) - maybe i should give this one a go :).
I love the pace, and the sort of winding syntax going on here - seems like the kind of writer who makes every word matter. I'll definitely try to pick this up as soon as i've reached the end of my current book list. I've definitely enjoyed some of the other SoGoPro picks thus far.
Also, other commenters appear to be aware that the purple thing next to you is in fact a unicorn. I confess, i thought it was some kind of My Little Pony. I was perplexed. Now that i know it's a unicorn, i'm still perplexed.
Well, that has more action than the other Twilight. I will most certainly have to check it out. You weren't even halfway into and it had all that drama going on. I'll be looking forward to what happens with the rest of it. Thanks for sharing. :)
Now it’s time to catch up with you all, I do have an amazing network from my years in film and television which I’m putting to good use - but it occur... [read more]

P.S ; I can't wait to receive my t-shirt :D .
"Picture postcards mailed from hell." Awesome. And creepy. But still really awesome, heh. I'll have to put this on my list of things to read when the semester ends and I can actually have a life.
It seems really interesting. BTW, I found out that it's the only William Gay's book that was translated in Italian. I am definitely gonna read it.
I love SoGoPro Book Club, I always get to know some interesting books! Thanks for reading for us.
I've noticed the theme of unicorns popping up at random..... Don't think I didn't see the unicorn beanie babies in the t-shirt sweatshop photos..
I actually just got Provinces of Night in the mail last night and I'm going to start reading it right.... NOW.
i have an eight hour car ride coming up, and i'm definitely going to get this book to pass the time.
p.s. i LOVED the purple unicorn. it might have to do with my love for like everything purple, but it was awesome!
Sorry, I just read Lauren's comment (I have a habit of commenting too soon as well) and wanted to add that this book is partially responsible for my current interest in criminal psychology. So if your into exploring the mind of criminals... you’ll definitely like this book.
