what the...birdsong?
i tried to start this blog much earlier. 930 b.c. 9:30 before coffee. it was impossible, buttons weren't making sense. now i'm caffeinated, and ready to please.
really quickly, before i get to the good stuff i want to advocate the movie taylor (walter) and i saw last night, the hurt locker. admittedly, i really wasn't in the mood for a film about war, but i am so glad i made the trek. all the hype you may have heard about this film is quite real. funny that it's been playing for so long in the theaters, and wilmington is just now getting it. it is a phenomenal film, a very different and unexpected type of portrayal of war and the military that i really appreciated. applauding kathryn bigelow. i think it is the best movie i've seen so far this year. i will warn you if you're not aware of its content, it is quite graphic, but i see many accolades (beyond those it has already received) in its near future. and now i really want to rent strange days later (she also directed that movie, and it also rules).

this is joan birdsong, as portrayed by the wonderfully talented kathy halenda. yes, another birdsong, joan is clarisse's aunt, and she has quite the penchant for fame, and thinks quite bewilderingly that the stages of community theater is where she is to find her glory. joan is one part lucille bluth (arrested development) and one part mama rose (gypsy). you'll see...

If I couldn't tell from the latest vlog, than I certainly do now...I have a feeling the Joan Birdsong is going to bring much joy into my life.
Its seems that this woman is going to be the life of the party and create a lot of hype for F.U.C.T and I can't wait.
The more and more advertisements I see for Friendship Union the more enticing it is becoming!!

I agree with Kay, I think Joan Birdsong will be my favorite character. Just from the promo she looks awesome! But I'm sure I'll love all the characters for their uniqueness. Now on to The Hurt Locker. I want to see that movie so badly, I can't even begin to tell you. I'm looking forward to seeing a military film directed from a woman's view. Two thumbs up for Kathryn Bigelow!

Haha comparing her to Lucille Bluth! Arrested Development was a fantastic show. It's so sad it ended after only three seasons. I hope F.U.C.T. goes on for so much longer

I actually just got back from seeing the movie "500 days of summer" which was playing at a small theatre in town and I saw the preview for "The Hurt Locker" and I thought it looked interesting! Although I am not usually a big fan of war movies I might just have to check this one out!

I already know im going to love Joan! if she is anything like Mama Rose than i'm one happy camper! They never aired arrested development over here in Ireland that i know of, so i don't know anything about Lucille Bluth but when i was in NY last summer I went to see Gypsy and Patti LuPone was just absolutly amazing as Mama Rose and she deffinetly played a huge part in my love for Mama R.

I love that there are seemingly a whole clan of Birdsongs :). One of my favourite novels ever is centered around a massive, vaguely preposterous theatre family called the Hazards. There's Melchior (the Laurence Olivier of the bunch), Peregrine, Lady Atlanta, Saskia, Imogen, Tristram, Estella, Ranulph... the list goes on. "Wise Children" is about Melchior's illegitimate daughters, Nora and Dora Chance (and what is Hazard but a fancy word for Chance?) as they try to make it in the theatre world though they are from "the bastard side of Old Father Thames." I love this book, i could talk about it all day!
But that would be terribly self-indulgent. The point is, i like the poster :). I look forward to the webisode :). There!
